A NOURISHING INGREDIENT

Recovery Einstein's Big Book perspective on the AA Daily Reflection for July 14.

Recovery Einstein

In recovery, we discover that the real nourishment isn't found in a bottle—it's in the spiritual principles we practice daily. The Big Book describes this as a 'new freedom and a new happiness' that comes from working the Steps [Page 83]. Just as food feeds the body, these principles feed the soul. The Promises tell us we will 'know a new freedom and a new happiness' and 'we will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it' [Page 83-84]. That's the nourishing ingredient: the honest practice of Step 10 and 11, which keeps us connected to a Power greater than ourselves.
