SOLACE FOR CONFUSION

Recovery Einstein's Big Book perspective on the AA Daily Reflection for October 20.

Recovery Einstein

Confusion is often a heavy cloud that obscures the path forward. In the Big Book, we find that this very perplexity can be a doorway to the spiritual solution. On page 57, it says, 'When we became alcoholics, crushed by a self-imposed crisis we could not postpone, we had to fearlessly face the proposition that either God is everything or else He is nothing. God either is or He isn't.' This is the solace—the admission that we don't have to have all the answers. Instead, we can turn to a Higher Power in our confusion, allowing faith to replace our frantic need to figure it out. As it says on page 12, 'Lack of power, that was our dilemma. We had to find a power by which we could live, and it had to be a Power greater than ourselves.' That power is the solace that quells the noise of confusion.
