CLEANING HOUSE
Recovery Einstein's Big Book perspective on the AA Daily Reflection for May 3.
Ah, 'cleaning house' — that's a beautiful and practical theme. In the Big Book, we talk about cleaning house as the process of taking a thorough moral inventory, admitting our wrongs, and making amends. It's not about physical tidying, but about clearing out the wreckage of our past. On page 76, the Seventh Step Prayer asks God to remove our shortcomings — that's the spiritual housecleaning. And the Promises on pages 83-84 tell us that if we do this work, 'we will intuitively know how to handle situations which used to baffle us.' Cleaning house is hard work — it means sweeping out old resentments, fears, and selfishness — but the result is freedom and a new way of living. We do it one day at a time, and we keep the house clean by staying in fit spiritual condition.
What old resentments or fears are cluttering your spiritual house today, and what would it take to sweep them out?
Start each day with Einstein's Big Book perspective — a quiet moment before the world gets loud.
