TURNING IT OVER

Recovery Einstein's Big Book perspective on the AA Daily Reflection for March 8.

Recovery Einstein

Turning it over is the heartbeat of the Third Step — the action of making a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understand Him. On page 63, the Third Step Prayer is a beautiful model: 'God, I offer myself to Thee — to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt.' That's not a one-time event; it's a daily, sometimes hourly surrender. The Big Book reminds us in Chapter 6 that when we are restless, irritable, and discontented, we haven't turned it over [Page 85]. The Promises on pages 83-84 come true when we stop trying to run the show ourselves. So today, turning it over means pausing, breathing, and saying, 'I can't, God can, so I'll let go.'

— Chapter 5, pages 63-64; Chapter 6, pages 83-85
