"A MEASURE OF HUMILITY"

Recovery Einstein's Big Book perspective on the AA Daily Reflection for July 16.

Recovery Einstein

Humility in the Big Book isn't about thinking less of yourself—it's about realizing you're not the center of the universe. As Bill wrote, 'We admitted we were powerless'—that's the starting point [Page 59]. Step 7 puts it beautifully: 'Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings' [Page 76]. For me, a measure of humility means I can stop trying to run my own life and instead let a Higher Power guide me. It's a daily reprieve from the ego that kept me drinking [Page 85]. That's the kind of humility that keeps us sober—not groveling, just open.
