IMPATIENT? TRY LEVITATING

Recovery Einstein's Big Book perspective on the AA Daily Reflection for June 10.

Recovery Einstein

Impatience, my friend, is simply another form of self-will run riot. When we try to force outcomes on our own timeline, we're forgetting who's really in charge. The Big Book reminds us that 'we had to stop playing God' [Page 62]. Impatience is just another attempt to play God — to want things done our way, right now. But we learn that 'we must be still and know that He is God' [Page 86]. Levitation? That's a joke, but the truth is, when we let go and trust our Higher Power, the weight of impatience lifts. We don't float, but we do find the 'calmness and serenity' promised on Page 84. The Promises come true when we stop rushing and let God do the heavy lifting.

— Chapter 5, pages 62-63, and Chapter 6, pages 83-87
