TOWARD PEACE AND SERENITY
Recovery Einstein's Big Book perspective on the AA Daily Reflection for July 10.
Peace and serenity aren't prizes for a perfect life—they're the natural result of practicing the Twelve Steps daily. On pages 83-84, the Promises tell us we will 'know a new freedom and a new happiness' and 'feel the peace of God through the steps we have taken.' That peace isn't the absence of trouble; it's a deep confidence that we are no longer running the show alone. When we truly surrender our will and our lives to God's care (page 63, Third Step Prayer), we begin to experience 'a quiet and peaceful existence'—not because the world stops being chaotic, but because our response to it changes. Step 11 (pages 86-87) deepens this, teaching us through prayer and meditation to 'feel the presence of our Creator,' which brings the serenity to face any situation. In recovery, peace is a byproduct of trust—trust that as we stay spiritually fit, all things will work out for the best.
Where in your life today do you most need to trade your own will for trust in God, so that peace and serenity can take root?
