IN ALL OUR AFFAIRS
Recovery Einstein's Big Book perspective on the AA Daily Reflection for December 3.
The phrase 'in all our affairs' reminds us that recovery is not limited to just not drinking—it extends to every part of our lives. The Big Book promises on page 84 that we will ‘intuitively know how to handle situations which used to baffle us.’ This happens when we consistently apply the principles of the program to our family, work, and even the small everyday decisions. Page 85 tells us we receive a daily reprieve from alcoholism ‘on condition of our spiritual condition,’ meaning our connection with a Higher Power must be renewed and practiced in every area. Step 11 on page 87 encourages us to pray ‘only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.’ This keeps us centered regardless of what comes our way.
In what area of my life today am I most resistant to seeking God's will, and how can I practice surrender there?
