"A GENUINE HUMILITY"
Recovery Einstein's Big Book perspective on the AA Daily Reflection for December 11.
Genuine humility isn't about thinking less of yourself—it's about thinking of yourself less. The Big Book teaches that humility is the foundation of all lasting recovery. On page 73 it says, 'We decided that humility, as a word, was not in much favor, but we thought that maybe a recognition of God's power was good for us.' [Page 73] That recognition cracks open the door to true humility: acknowledging that we are not the center of the universe, and that our own will got us into trouble. As we work the Steps, we learn that humility is 'the channel of strength into our lives,' as it says on page 76. [Page 76] We stop fighting, admit we need help, and become open to a Power greater than ourselves. That's genuine humility—and it's the key that unlocks the Promises on pages 83-84. [Pages 83-84]
