SEEDS OF FAITH

Faith in this program often starts as nothing more than a tiny seed — a willingness to believe when you don't yet believe. In the chapter 'We Agnostics', we read that many of us 'had to believe in a Power greater than ourselves — that we could find a way out of our difficulties' [Page 47]. That willingness is the seed. We plant it by showing up, by listening, by trying the Steps even when we feel nothing. The Big Book promises that 'as we go through the day, we pause, when agitated or doubtful, and ask for the right thought or action' [Page 87]. That daily practice waters the seed. Before long, faith grows from a desperate hope into a quiet certainty — not because we reasoned our way there, but because we lived our way there. One day we realize we haven't doubted in weeks. That's the harvest.
