GROWING UP
Recovery Einstein's Big Book perspective on the AA Daily Reflection for April 10.
Growing up in recovery isn't about getting older — it's about growing larger in spirit. The Big Book promises that 'we will intuitively know how to handle situations which used to baffle us' [Page 84]. That's maturity: responding instead of reacting. We stop being the rebellious child who fights everyone and everything, and start becoming adults who accept life on life's terms. As the book says, 'we have ceased fighting anything or anyone — even alcohol' [Page 60]. Growth means learning to let go of old resentments and becoming useful to others. It's a slow, steady process — 'we grow in understanding and effectiveness' [Page 132] — but each step forward is a step toward the person we were meant to be.
What is one area of your life where you notice yourself responding with more patience and wisdom than you did a year ago?
Start each day with Einstein's Big Book perspective — a quiet moment before the world gets loud.
